Projects

How projects, services and the project tabs fit together.

What a project is

A project holds the backend for one app: at most one Postgres database, one Auth service, one Storage bucket and one Redis instance, plus hosted apps (2 on Free, 5 on Pro). Credentials are encrypted at rest and each one only works inside its own project.

Creating projects, deploying services and revealing or resetting secrets are rate limited per user, and each of those actions is written to the audit log on the Usage page.

The project tabs

TabUse it to
ServicesDeploy, reveal, reset and delete Postgres, Auth, Storage and Redis, and deploy and manage hosted apps. Open the database explorer and storage browser from here.
OverviewCopy the Quick Start with AI prompt and manage the project's agent token.
UsageSee what the project's services cost and how much of each limit is used.
EnvironmentReveal and copy every connection value, copy a .env file, and add your own variables.
SettingsRename the project, set usage alerts or delete it.

Service states

StateMeaning
UpdatingA deploy, reset or delete is running. The page refreshes every 2 seconds.
ReadyThe service is running and its credentials are available.
SleepingA free-plan database with no connections for 6 hours was stopped. Click Wake on its card.
PausedYou paused the database, or the account ran out of credits, or the service stayed over its size limit for 3 days. Nothing is deleted. Resume it, add credits or free some space and it starts again.

Deleting a project

Delete a single service from its card, or the whole project from Settings. Deletion removes the containers, volumes and buckets, so it cannot be undone. Download a backup first if you may need the data (see Postgres).

Use with AI

Useful when you want an agent to understand how your CloudHike.dev project is organised before it changes your app.

  1. 1

Open a terminal in your app's folder and start Claude Code.

    claude
  2. 2

Paste the prompt below and press Enter. Approve the file edits and commands it asks about.

  3. 3

Optional: save a short note about CloudHike.dev in CLAUDE.md so every session knows about it.

PROMPT
Read https://cloudhike.dev/docs/md/projects so you understand how CloudHike.dev projects and services work.

Then look at my app and tell me which CloudHike.dev services (Postgres, Auth, Storage, Redis) it needs and which ones I should deploy on the project's Services tab. Do not change any files yet.

Replace the placeholders in <angle brackets> before sending. Always review what the agent changes.
